housing market predictions for 2012, rise and fall of US home prices, 2012 elections impact on US housing

Another year coming to an end and I continue to hear the media chatter about how bad the Real Estate is. My plea to everyone- quit listening to the garbage political propaganda machinery. This negativity has given the wrong impression to consumers who continue to think that the market is in a constant downslide, when it really is not.

Lately, especially in this month I have noticed a sudden uptick in home sales in San Ramon and Dublin. Barely any inventory has led to multiple offers on properties. And then buyers get surprised that the media gives them a very different story from what they are actually experiencing. There is a lot of money coming from Asia and other parts of the world. Conventional buyers are constantly getting beat out by cash buyers. I am seeing more flips than REO's which means someone is out there buying these homes for cash ! And the media wants you to believe that the world is coming crashing around our ears?

We are still way better priced than other countries in home prices. I have just come back from an overseas trip and when someone pointed out an old house crumbling in an established "posh" area of New Delhi and told me that the worth of that property is roughly $20 Million dollars, I nearly died of a coronary !! There was probably 5000-600 sq ft of land- that's all. Can you even begin to imagine what that amount of money can buy you in the US?

I am not the one to make cliche`d dialogues of Buy Now, it is the best time to buy !! But I am going to say that if you have been sitting on the sidelines and waiting, if you don't take the plunge in 2012, then forever hold your peace. I say this with conviction because I have reasons for it. The biggest is the change in political scenario. Politics and the aura surrounding it causes most of the garbage that we have to deal with in our lives and major changes occur during election time. Call me out if I am wrong but I am convinced 2012 will be a year of housing to start stabilising and slowly picking up.
