Is Bollinger Hills, CA a good place to live?

Bollinger Hills, CA sits on the quieter west side of San Ramon. Being a little away from the hustle and bustle of downtown makes this a great place for adults and families looking to settle down -- those who are often ready for their first home. The neighborhood still affords easy access to downtown’s shops, restaurants and venues, for those evenings when you’re feeling young.

Bollinger Hills, CA offers a quieter neighborhood, where you can enjoy a backyard and have some space. You’ll find a safe community, excellent schools, and neighbors who aren’t right on top of you.

Single-Family Homes for Sale

The homes in Bollinger Hills tend to be the quintessential single-family house. Think 3-4 bedrooms, 2-3 baths, 2-car garage, and yards for gardening or playing catch. The yards are a good size for most dogs once fenced in.

Prices of homes for sale here tend to be on par with other single family homes in San Ramon. Most are under $2 million, which isn’t bad for this area if you want a place to raise a family.

Essentially, the homes for sale here are very, very fine houses where everything is done unless you want to remodel. You provide flowers for the vase, and the two cats for the yard.

Safe Neighborhood Without Traffic

Access points to the neighborhood are primarily off of Bollinger Canyon Road, and there’s importantly no connection to North Canyon Road.

That means people aren’t taking shortcuts through the neighborhood. Kids are generally safe when riding bikes or playing ball on the street (although many driveways are flat enough for a hoop). You also won’t have much immediate street noise.

At the same time, accessing the neighborhood off of Bollinger Canyon is easy no matter where in San Ramon you’re coming from.

As you’d expect in a quieter neighborhood like this, crime is quite low. You’ll feel safe when biking or walking the roads, too.

Excellent Schools for Kids of All Ages

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a school that isn’t rated highly anywhere in San Ramon. For Bollinger Hills specifically, the elementary schools, Iron Horse Middle School, and California High School all receive good grades of A or A+. The private schools, ranging from classic to Christian, are also all well-regarded and not too far away.

Convenient Highway Access for Commutes

If you work outside of San Ramon, Bollinger Hills is minutes off of Interstate 680. Stay on I-680 if you’re going to Oakland or San Francisco, unless I-580 is faster because of traffic. I-580 is an easy connection by taking North Canyon Road, or you can reach it from 680 too. I-680 will also take you south to Fremont and San Jose.

Access to Shops, Restaurants and Entertainment

When you want to play, San Ramon’s shops, restaurants, bars and venues are a short drive halfway across town. It doesn’t take long to reach them during evenings or on weekends, which means you don’t have to waste money on a babysitter while you sit in traffic.

Of course, those same interstates will take you to San Francisco or elsewhere if you’re going on a longer outing. I-580 also heads due west from here, serving as a gateway to the mountains for a long weekend.
