Details about the Easter Event

Springtime is near and a fun event awaits us! This Saturday, April 19 visit City Center Bishop Ranch from 11am to 3PM.

Everyone’s invited to Alexander Square so you can meet the Easter Bunny and have your very own memento of this festive season with the beloved Easter character.

A Bit of History about Easter

Ever wondered why there are bunnies on Easter?

According to Goodhousekeeping, there is this theory that the symbolism the rabbit gives is based on the pagan tradition, the festival of Eostre, which honored the goddess of fertility and spring, both of which are symbols of renewal or new life. The goddess Eostre’s symbol is none other than a rabbit, which is known for their high reproduction rates.

Also in History.com, it is said that it was the German immigrants who lived in Pennsylvania in the 18th century who brought the tradition in the United States of having an Easter hare who lays and also hides eggs. The immigrant kids would even create nests for the said Easter hare. Eventually this practice also spread throughout the whole country.

Easter is also widely celebrated around the world by Christians to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his Crucifixion. The earliest date Easter was recorded to be celebrated by Christians was on the 2nd century.
